City of Tulsa , Oklahoma

Tulsa covers an area just a little more than 181 miles – roughly 3 times larger than Washington , DC . Downtown Tulsa is known for its office buildings & art deco architecture. The building currently the Bank of America building was finished construction in 1967 & is 412ft – 32 stories. Soon after, the Williams Center building was constructed, which is currently the tallest building in Oklahoma .

A fairly small area just to the south of Downtown is known as “Uptown” and is bounded by 51/75, the Arkansas River , 21 st St , and S. Cincinnati Ave. Midtown Tulsa is a predominantly residential district to the south & east of Downtown & Uptown. South Tulsa was predominantly undeveloped before the 70's, but boomed for almost 25 continuous years, and is now Tulsa 's biggest shopping base. Much of South Tulsa is wooded & hilly, and some of the largest and most expensive homes are located here. East Tulsa is, for the most p art , modest residential neighborhoods built from the sixties through the eighties. West Tulsa is the area to the West of the Arkansas River , and this is where Tulsa 's biggest parks & nature reserves are located.

Downtown Tulsa

Downtown Tulsa is roughly 1.5 square miles with a loop created by 244, 444, & Hwy 75 as its boundary. During the early 20th century, Tulsa's economy boomed & the downtown real estate building boomed, as well. Due to this, downtown Tulsa is home to one of the largest concentrations of Art Deco architecture in the US. Downtown Tulsa is the financial & business district, & there are plans to increase its draw as a tourist attraction. Midtown Tulsa

Midtown Tulsa is a rapidly growing area of the city that occupies land just east & south of Downtown and bordered by the Arkansas River, Yale Ave, & 51st St. Midtown Tulsa is the city's residential core, & consists of many different types of homes built from the early 1900's to the mid-century. Recently, many homes in mid-town have been demolished to make way for new construction. The upscale shopping districts of Cherry Street & Utica Square, the many bars/restaurants on Brookside, & the University of Tulsa are all located in Midtown Tulsa. South Tulsa

South Tulsa is the large area which is bounded by 121st St on the south & 61st St on the north. South Tulsa real estate began development in the 1970's, and it boomed through the 1980's 90's. South Tulsa contains all of the chain retail stores one would expect in a largely residential district of any major city & includes Tulsa's largest shopping mall - Woodland Hills Mall. Jenks, Oklahoma

Jenks, OK is a suburb on the Southwest side of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jenks is bordered by the Arkansas River to the East & Highway 75 to the West. In 2000, the census recorded the population at 9557, but a recent estimate puts the population well over 13,000. Jenks has recently undergone rapid growth with the development of the Riverwalk Crossing shopping district the & Oklahoma Aqauarium along the Arkansas River. Jenks connects with the Tulsa Riverparks trails by way of a pedestrian bridge across the river. Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

Broken Arrow is located just east of Tulsa in northeastern Oklahoma. Broken Arrow grew from 74,000 to 100,399 from 2000 to 2005 & is the largest suburb of Tulsa. Broken Arrow will more than likely surpass Lawton soon as the 4th largest city in the state. The city is known by locals as "B.A." Broken Arrow has a very large school district with excellent academic & athletic programs. The schools are not divided into traditional middle & high schools, but instead offer different centers that service particular grades. Bixby, Oklahoma

Bixby is a suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma located immediately south of the city. The population of Bixby was recorded as 18,500 in 2005 which showed 40% growth from the 2000 census. Bixby is one of the fastest growing suburban communities in OK, & it is still a center for sod-growing & a popular place to grow fresh vegetables.
